  • Find your JSA Area Representative who may give you advice if you are new to your role.
  • Plan your instructor hiring, utlilizing the job bank tips.
  • Post job openings on the Job Bank.
  • Attend the JSA Program Management Workshop and Mid-Winter Meeting in late January/early February. 
  • Review the Program Management Resources page 
  • Ask your parents to complete the JSA Waiver/Medical & Participant Information forms in the Online Database.
  • Fill in your club and instructor information in the Club tab on the Online Database.  For summary of database admin procedures, click here.
  • Attend the JSA Spring Meeting
  • Register and send your instructors to the Head Instructor and All Instructor Workshops;  see Calendar for dates
  • Review the curriculum resources available on the website.

  • Review the Online Database to assure the families in your program have a Complete status that will alow them to enter regarras and provide the JSA office with accurate information on the families in your program.
  • Follow your sailors results via the Regattas page.
  • Keep track of Champs qualifiers.

  • Make sure you have under age/under weight request forms completed for all affected sailors.
  • Review the Notices of Race on the Regattas page.
  • Register for the regattas either through the Online Database if the regatta accepts online registration or using the Regatta Registration Forms
  • Check for Law Trophy or Champs qualifiers.

  • Read the Big Boat Manual carefully
  • Plan for practices and navigation instruction.  Review the Navigation Curriculum and Sample Questions.
  • Check out the Big Boat Resources page for other information.

  • Plan for instructor hiring;  utlilize the job bank tips.

  • Be on the lookout for the JSA Season Survey.
  • Submit nominations for JSA special recognition trophies:  The Brooke E Gonzalez Memorial Trophy (awarded to a young woman who demonstrates sportmanship, exceptional ethical behavior, dedication to the sport of sailing, and outstanding sailing achievement), The Susie Trotman Trophy for outstanding sailing instruction, and the Mitchell S. Weeks Trophy  for sportmanship in junior sailing.
  • Attend the JSA annual meeting.
