Please remember:  a) all instructors at JSA member programs must successfully complete the US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor Certification Course and maintain valid First Aid and Adult CPR certificates. b) Each instructor at a JSA member program who is taking the Level 1 course for the first time must also successfully complete the US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification Course. c) The equivalent international certifications may be accepted for non-US resident instructors.

Sagamore Junior SailingOyster Bay NY
Sagamore Junior Sailing is now accepting applications for the remainder of the 2017 Summer Junior Sailing Program.  Our program consists of Optis, Blue Jays and C420s,so experiences with Optis and C420s preferred.  Instructors will coach new and experienced sailors, 8-16 years in age, 2 or 4 week programs on the fundamentals of sailing and racing. We are looking to add one talented enthusiastic instructor, who will also motivate sailors on and off the water, be able to adapt their teaching style and lessons to a class format or for individual needs and most of all make sure the sailors are learning in a positive and fun atmosphere.    Applicants must have a minimum of Level 1 US Sailing Certification, US Safe Powerboat Handling Certification, CPR and First Aid Certification.  Experience with High School or Collegiate racing is preferred.   Wages are competitive and will be based upon experience, however new instructors are more than welcomed!

We are in need for one more sailing instructor. Sailing Instructors need to be excellent communicators and teachers who love being around children. Instructors need to have significance experience as a sailor and as a competitor. We want our instructors to have an infectious personality that can pass on their love of sailing to the beginning sailor and the seasoned veteran. Experience as an instructor is preferred. All candidates must have U.S. Sailing Level 1 Certificate, U.S. Powerboating Safe Handling Certification and current First Aid and CPR at the start of the season. Compensation: The Sailing positions are full-time for 8 weeks. All positions have competitive rates based on experience. Performance Bonus at seasons end. Lunch is provided Tues-Fri. Housing is not available.
Dates of Employment: mid-June to mid-August 2017

Northport Yacht Club on Long Island Sound, NY , is seeking a coach for the 2017 summer season. We have a higher than anticipated registration this year and need a coach to help with our Laser/C420 class or our Optimist class. Our Junior Sailing program begins June 26th and runs to August 11th. We are looking for an enthusiastic instructor who enjoys working with young sailors. We prefer the instructor be at least 18 years old, with one or more years of experience as a US Sailing Level 1 or 2 certified instructor, and also have Safe Powerboat Handling skills. Applicants should be hard-working, reliable, enthusiastic and able to work well with others. They should be great mentors, excellent communicators and have the skills to create and execute effective and fun lesson plans, maintain safe practices and above all, have a genuine passion for sailing and teaching kids. Wages will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 30 hours per week.

Port Washington Yacht Club is seeking a Laser/420 coach to join our growing staff - we are looking for a second coach due to high registration this year. Candidate should possess the following certifications: US Sailing Level 1 or above; CPR/First Aid; NY State Safe Powerboating Certificate or equivalent. PWYC is a 50 plus year program set up as learn to sail, recreational and regatta training in Optimist, C420, Laser Radial and windsurfers with approximately 130 plus children ranging from 8 to 18 years old. We hope to attract motivated staff that will create a fun and dynamic summer experience for beginners through our advanced racers with practice time on water and responsibility for students on land. We have an extensive fleet of support boats and resources available to the instructor group and a supportive membership.

Centerport Yacht Club is seeking a highly motivated, organized and enthusiastic person to be the new Head Sailing Instructor for various programs from March through November. This is a full time position for the summer (June 26 through August 18th) and a part time position the rest of the time. This individual will teach some sailing, supervise senior and junior instructors and manage a variety of junior sailing program activities. CYC offers a competitive salary based on experience About CYC Junior sailing: CYC offers an eight week summer program. It has about 130 sailors from 5 years old to 18, sailing Opti’s, Blue Jays, RS Feva’s, C420’s, Lasers and Ideal 18’s. In the Spring and in the Fall we offer sailing on Sunday afternoons and we are hosting and training the local High school sailing team.
Requirements: Prior head sailing instructor experience or prior sailing instructor experience would be preferable. Duties include management and day to day administration of the summer program, spring sailing, spring high school sailing, fall sailing and fall high school sailing. Some travel is required to regattas in the region, mainly with the high school team. A candidate should have his/her US Sailing Level 1 certification and ideally his/her US Sailing Level 2 certification along with current CPR and First Aid certifications. The employment contract would run from now until beginning of November.
